The ACT has recorded 30 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, while a Queanbeyan man has died from the virus in Canberra Hospital.
Key points:
- At least six of today's cases spent time in the community while infectious
- Two southern NSW men in their 50s have died from the virus
- Today was the first day during this lockdown that the ACT government hasn't held a COVID-19 press conference
At least six of the new cases spent some time infectious in the community and 14 are yet to be linked to other known cases or transmission sites.
There are 15 people in hospital with the virus, with six in intensive care and five requiring ventilation.
There are now 433 active cases in the ACT, with 763 cases having recovered.
More than 97 per cent of Canberrans aged 12 and over have now received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 69.3 per cent fully vaccinated.
No daily COVID-19 press conference was held in the ACT today.
The Chief Minister and the Health Minister had been giving televised daily updates since the ACT's latest outbreak began, but today released a statement instead.
Queanbeyan, Murrumbateman residents among NSW deaths
There have been 11 new COVID-19 cases reported in the southern NSW local health district, which encompasses the Queanbeyan Palerang, Goulburn Mulwaree, Snowy Monaro and Bega Valley regions.
Of the six deaths reported in New South Wales today, two of them were in the southern region.
A Queanbeyan man in his 50s died in Canberra Hospital. He was not vaccinated and had underlying health conditions.
Another man in his 50s died at his Murrumbateman home. He was not vaccinated and was a patient of the Southern NSW Local Health District virtual care service.
From tomorrow, COVID-19 restrictions across NSW will ease, with travel allowed between regional areas for fully vaccinated people.
But Canberrans will have to wait longer for regional travel, with the ACT to take a staged approach to reopening when lockdown lifts on Friday.
