A man has been charged after allegedly threatening to kill staff at an eatery because they refused to serve him hot chips.
Police said the 24-year-old man entered a store on Bennett St in East Perth about 9pm on Friday and tried to order some hot chips.
“It will be alleged when he was advised the kitchen was closed, he showed the staff he was carrying knives and threatened to kill staff if the chips were not cooked for him,” police said in a statement on Saturday.
“Fearing for their safety, the staff commenced cooking his order and notified police.”
Officers arrived a few minutes later while the man was waiting for his food and he was arrested.
The knives and the cash he had placed on the counter to pay for his food were also seized, police said.
The Parmelia man has been charged with threatening to kill, being armed in a way that may cause fear and failing to comply with a request to give police his personal details.
He was refused police bail and is expected to face Perth Magistrates Court later on Saturday.
