Melbourne protests: Crowds gather at State Library wielding ‘sack Dan Andrews‘ signs in rally against COVID-19 vaccine mandates - 7NEWS

Crowds of protesters have gathered in Melbourne, taking to the streets in protest of Victoria’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate and proposed pandemic laws.

Thousands of people met at the State Library on Saturday, for the third weekend in a row.

Protesters are expected to head towards Parliament House, wielding signs including “sack Dan (Andrews)“ and “kill the bill”.

Federal MP Craig Kelly is among the crowd of protesters in Melbourne.

“A pleasure catching up with as many of our 20,000+ Victorian UAP members & supporters as I can throughout my day in Melbourne,” he said on Twitter.

“I stand with all those who stand for Freedom.”

Last week, a woman who addressed protesters said the Andrews government’s proposed bill is “unlawful” and “needs to be invalidated”.

Shortly after, a man took to the stage and said “thank you my fellow superspreaders”, which was met with applause.

“This is only the beginning, this is the start of the people’s revolution. We are the counter revolution and we will continue to march,” he said.

Protesters are marching against the contentious Public Health and Wellbeing (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021.

The laws would give the state premier the power to declare a pandemic and extend emergency conditions for three months at a time, for as long as considered necessary.

They are also fighting against vaccine mandates.

Anyone with a valid medical exemption will be able to continue working.
