Once inside the men confronted a 65-year-old woman and 67-year-old man.

The couple were assaulted and held at knifepoint, with one of the victims tied up with their hands behind their back.

Police were told the other victim had their face covered for “a period of time”, as the group raided the property for over an hour and demanded access to a safe.

The men managed to take off with several pieces of high-end jewellery and watches worth up to $160,000.

The stolen luxury watches include a Cartier Tank Musk Watch, two Rolexes and a Tudor Heritage Chronograph watch. None of the items have been recovered.

The victims were able to free themselves once the offenders left.

Police believed the victims were targeted mistakenly and are now seeking help from the public to identify two of the men who may have been involved.

“The offenders made it clear they were there to access a safe that they believed to be inside the premises,” Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Mercovich said.

“The victims made it clear that there was no safe inside and we believe the offenders have either targeted the wrong address or had false information.”

The first male is believed to be of Pacific Islander appearance, aged in his 20s, with a solid build and facial hair.

The second is also believed to be Pacific Islander in appearance, aged in his 20s with a solid build and a tattoo across the front of his neck.

Police believe the group had travelled to the home from the western suburbs.

“Anyone who’s prepared to force entry into someone’s home, tie up victims and assault them is a concern to us,” Mercovich said.

Mercovich said the incident was “incredibly stressful” for the couple, and that police were committed to finding who was responsible.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the group in Beckett Rd, Donvale on the night or noticed any suspicious activity in the area in the days leading up to the incident,” he said.
