Heavy rain and flooding hit large parts of western NSW

Creeks have been overflowing around Broken Hill, including at Silverton.(ABC Broken Hill: Sarah McConnell)

Heavy rain and strong winds will continue to lash areas of New South Wales today, with concerns over flooding in parts of the state's west.

Authorities are urging residents to be prepared, with damaging winds and heavy rainfall, in areas including Orange, Bathurst, Yass and Parkes.

Wagga Wagga and Griffith could also be impacted.

The State Emergency Service has reported a man had to be rescued from the roof of his car at Euchareena, in the Orana region.

Several people became trapped by fast-rising waters around Orange and Bathurst as the rain came down.

State Emergency Service volunteers have been door knocking in the village of Perthville, near Bathurst, with fears flood waters could impact on homes and sandbagging is underway.

A moderate flood warning is in place for the Belubula River and minor to moderate for the Lachlan.

Many changing warnings are expected over the next few days, so please keep up to date with your local warnings at ABC Emergency.
