Victoria has recorded 1268 new cases of COVID-19 and seven deaths.

In the state 82 per cent of people over the age of 12 have been fully vaccinated.

Health authorities said their thoughts are with those in hospital and the families of those who have lost their lives from COVID-19.

In NSW, 270 new local cases of COVID-19 have been detected.

Three people have died with the disease.

89.4 per cent of people in NSW older than 18 are now double vaccinated.

Vaccinating school kids

School children over the age of 12 in Victoria could be set to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in between classes.

The goal is to help increase vaccination rates for younger people.

GPs from the existing Victorian program called Doctors in Secondary Schools, which is available at around 100 schools, have been given accreditation to provide the jabs on site at schools.

The aim of the program is to minimise obstacles children could experience when it comes to receiving the vaccine.

Vaccination approval for children under the age of 12 is still awaiting approval from the TGA.
