Tributes for 'amazing' mother Emma Lovell killed in North Lakes home invasion - ABC News

A woman killed in a home invasion in north Brisbane was the "glue" of her family, her husband, who was also stabbed in the attack, has said.

Emma Lovell, 41, was fatally stabbed in the chest at her North Lakes home on Boxing Day

Lee Lovell, 43, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, spoke after returning to the family home on Tuesday afternoon.

"Emma was the glue to my family, she was such a beautiful person," he said.

"We are all just devastated by her loss, it's senseless."

Skye Fleming, 14, laid flowers at the North Lakes home where Emma Lovell was fatally stabbed on Tuesday.

Ms Fleming said she was friends with the younger of Ms Lovell's two daughters, and the 41-year-old was like a "second mother" to her.

She said she "broke" when she heard Ms Lovell had died.

"She was amazing, she was always a good mum, she was always laughing, always smiling, was there to support her daughters throughout everything.

"She considered everyone family. It's such a tragic thing," she said.

Christmas at the beach

The family-of-four spent the day before on the Sunshine Coast — their first beach Christmas in 11 years, Mr Lovell said in a post to social media.

A smiling family photo and beach views were shared with the message "hope everyone has a great Christmas Day spent with loved ones and friends".

The couple were originally from Ipswich in the UK, according to their Facebook profiles.

'A horrific scene'

Two teenagers have been charged with murder and attempted murder, police said.

Police said the alleged offenders disturbed Ms Lovell and her husband at their home about 11:30pm on Monday, and fled after a confrontation in the home and front yard.

Another two teenagers who were also arrested are still being questioned by police.

Superintendent John Hallam said emergency services were confronted with a "horrific scene".

He said the community was mourning.

State government frontbencher Leanne Enoch said the attack was "incredibly tragic and disturbing".

"This is a horrifying act of violence. I understand that the police have already made arrests with regards to that matter.

"But my heart absolutely goes out to the families affected by this and of course to that community."
