The Sydney CBD coronavirus cluster is continuing to grow, with five of Thursday’s nine new cases linked to the area.
All of the new cases were locally acquired, with five linked to the new cluster and four close contacts of previous cases.
Three of those attended the City Tattersalls Club gym, while contact tracers are hunting down patrons of two Fitness First clubs.
“Anyone who attended City Tattersalls gym between 8am and 2pm on 19, 21 or 23 August is a close contact and must get tested for COVID-19 and isolate at home for 14 days,” deputy chief health officer Jeremy McAnulty said.
“Other members of City Tattersalls should get tested if they have even the mildest symptoms.”
These new cases have expanded health alerts around the city, as patients visited a bowling club, a brewery, a restaurant, a pharmacy and two other gyms while infectious.
NSW Health is working to contact all known attendees of the Hunters Hill Bowling Club indoor dining room on August 23 from 12pm to 2pm.
These people are considered close contacts of a case and must get immediately tested and self-isolate for 14 days – regardless of the result of their test.
If symptoms arise, they should get a second test.
People in other areas of the club at that time are considered casual contacts and must monitor for symptoms and get tested if they develop.
Anyone who has visited the following locations at the marked times is considered a casual contact and should monitor for symptoms and be tested immediately should they develop.
- 4 Pines Manly Brew Bar The Esplanade – August 23 from 3.30pm to 5pm
- Magpies Waitara restaurant – August 24 from 11.30am to 1:15pm
- Destro’s Pharmacy 197-201 Victoria Road Drummoyne – August 22 from 11.20am to 11.40am
- Fitness First Balgowlah – August 23 from 9am to 12pm
- Fitness First Bond St – August 20 and 21 , in the afternoon
Some people at the Fitness First gyms are considered close contacts, who must immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days. NSW Health is working to contact them.
“While case numbers have remained low in the past two weeks, the virus continues to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant,” Dr McAnulty said.
“It is vital that high rates of testing continue in order to find the source of the cases still under investigation and to identify and stop further spread of the virus.”
There are currently 74 cases of COVID-19 being treated by NSW Health.
Of those, six are in intensive care and four are ventilated.
