Parts of Queensland and New South Wales could be hit by thunderstorms overnight.
The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting showers, rain and the chance of a thunderstorm in southern Queensland and north-east NSW, as a trough and cloud band develops over the south-east coast.
Local heavy falls are possible, as the low-pressure system contracts and moves offshore on Tuesday.
Scattered to widespread showers, rain and a thunderstorm are on the cards for residents in southern and central Queensland for the rest of Monday.
The Bureau is predicting isolated showers in the state's eastern districts to the north of Rockhampton, with severe thunderstorms threatening to hit the Wide Bay Burnett region and south-east coast.
The wet weather will continue on Tuesday, before easing in the evening.
In NSW, showers are expected for the north-east on Monday, with a chance of a thunderstorm in some areas.
The Bureau is also predicting showers on Tuesday in the state's south-west and north-east.
The next weather forecasts from the Bureau for Queensland and NSW will be issued at 4.30am on Tuesday.
