Mahogany Creek fatal crash driver charged over deaths of pregnant woman and child in Perth - ABC News

A 23-year-old man has been charged over a major crash in Perth's east which killed a pregnant woman and her child, and tore their car in half.

The crash happened on Great Eastern Highway near Homestead Road in Mahogany Creek about 7:45pm on Friday.

The 21-year-old woman was sitting in the front passenger seat of a blue Nissan Skyline being driven by another man when it collided with the accused's blue Ford Falcon.

She received critical injuries and was rushed to Midland Hospital where her child was delivered, but they both died a short time later.

The impact of the crash split the woman's vehicle in half, with the driver suffering life-threatening injuries.(ABC News)

The driver of the Skyline was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening head and chest injuries.

The 23-year-old Swan View man who was behind the wheel of the Falcon has been charged by WA Police with several offences.

They include two counts of aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, aggravated dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and aggravated dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

The accused man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash.(ABC News)

He is due to appear in Midland Magistrates Court next month.

The Falcon driver and a 19-year-old passenger in his car were both taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash.

A second passenger in the car escaped serious injury.

Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
