Man charged after woman's body found in isolated East Gippsland town - The Age

A man in his 60s has been charged with murder after a woman's body was found at a home in the state's east.

Emergency services were called to Haydens Bog Road in Bendoc, in East Gippsland, about 3.30am on Tuesday following reports of an assault.

A police spokesman said officers arrived at the property about 6am and found a 65-year-old woman dead.

A 64-year-old man was taken into custody, and the homicide squad charged him with one count of murder on Tuesday night.
