A man has been charged with the alleged murder of a 25-year-old woman who was shot in the head at her Sunshine Coast home yesterday morning.
Earlier, investigations revealed that the woman was shot shortly after 9am yesterday, during a disturbance in Coolum Street, Dicky Beach.
She was taken to Caloundra Base Hospital by a 58-year-old man who was known to her, but later died.
The accused, a 30-year-old Narangba man, was intercepted by police and arrested about 20 kilometres away, at Sippy Downs, about six hours after the incident.
He was denied bail and was due in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
In an earlier statement, police said the man was "taken into custody without incident" and was "assisting with investigations".
Earlier on Friday, police said the woman and the accused knew each other and were visiting the owner of the Dicky Beach home when the alleged shooting occurred.
"However, preliminary investigations suggest this is not a domestic-related incident," police said in a statement.
The owner of the home and the 58-year-old man are assisting police with their inquires.
