Neighbourhood in shock
Floreat resident David Shanahan said his daughter reported hearing three or four shots.
"She ran inside, and said to me she knew they were shots, and she locked the doors until I got home," he said.
"People in this area are really nice, really friendly, and yeah, it's sad."
Another resident, who asked not to be named, said he was bringing his kids home from a sporting event when he heard a series of loud bangs he thought was someone hitting sheet metal.
"I heard bang, bang, bang, bang," he said.
He said there were three or four shots before a break of a few minutes, followed by another three or four shots.
The man said he saw a marked police car on the corner of the street and then a few unmarked police cars go past with officers in tactical gear.
Another woman said she had been left shattered by the news.
"Everybody on this street knows each other. We are a close-knit community…such a horrible thing to have happened," she said.
