Hotel quarantine policy not to blame for SA coronavirus outbreak

South Australia's police commissioner has again rejected claims that hotel quarantine policies are to blame for the state's COVID-19 outbreak.

South Australia's medi-hotel workers weren't required to undergo mandatory testing and were allowed to have other jobs.

Earlier this month, the Victorian Hotel Quarantine Inquiry recommended hotel staff only work at one site, and only hold one job.

The South Australia Police Commissioner, Grant Stevens, says for that to happen, they'd need to be better paid.

"It's not a highly paid vocation, these people have bills to pay, Mr Stevens said.

"One of the recommendations of the Victorian review is that these people are salaried and their terms and conditions cover off on their financial requirements and potential need to isolate if they contract the infection."
