'They looked like a normal family,' the resident said.

'It is shocking to hear. It must be pretty bad, judging on all the police that are here.'

The family's two eldest children attend the nearby Narre Warren South P-12 College, according to The Herald Sun

A distraught man who was unable to access the crime scene told the publication he was worried his sister had been killed and mother seriously injured in the attack.

'Police are not letting me go into the house. My boy called me to tell me something was wrong,' Satraboth Tep told the Herald Sun.

'He said, 'Can you come?' He said, 'We don't know what has happened but it is bad'.

Mr Tep said his sister Channa Tep, feared to be the victim, had lived in the house for eight years with her three children; two boys aged 15 and 11 and a daughter.

'I just want to know they are all OK,' Ben said. 'I'm worried about all my family.'

A witness told the publication the family's 'upset' mother was sitting on the lawn holding her youngest child while waiting for help to arrive.
