Queensland has recorded zero new locally acquired COVID-19 cases and one case detected in hotel quarantine..
"Well done Queensland, that's a perfect way to start a Sunday," Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.
While she said it was a fantastic result, Ms Palaszczuk said Queensland was by no means "out of the woods yet".
"This is a world pandemic and we are going to continue to see cases, and we need to be very vigilant," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"If you have any symptoms, however small whatsoever, please go and get a test.
"That is absolutely critical and go and get your vaccination when it is due."
Acting Chief Health Officer James Smith said Queensland's only case in hotel quarantine was a man in his 20s who flew in from Dubai.
"There will be a flight where he was infectious and the team is working at the moment to gain details about that flight, and those details will be forthcoming when they're available," he said
"The fact that we've got no new cases today certainly means that it's encouraging and that we're moving in the right direction."
A total of 13,341 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Saturday.
Qld-NSW border controls tighten
The Premier said border security at the Queensland-New South Wales border had been tightened.
It comes after several Local Government Areas in the New South Wales border zone went into lockdown earlier this week amid a rapidly spreading Delta outbreak in the southern state.
"There should be very minimal movement over their border, and that extra police presence out will ensure that we will do everything we can to keep Queenslanders safe," Ms Palaszczuk said.
"This is probably the tightest of our border controls we've put in place so it will be very strict.
"We are checking people, and of course, it is very minimal reason for that movement, and that is only if you're an essential worker and we'll be checking freight as well."
Ms Palaszczuk issued a stern warning to Queenslanders to stay well away from New South Wales, and for residents on the Gold Coast to be particularly vigilant with masks given how close they are to the border.
"If you're living on the Gold Coast or visiting on the Gold Coast, I would be wearing my mask as much as possible — that border is very close to New South Wales, so please make sure you're doing the right thing," she said.
"In Queensland we've always acted very hard and very fast, and I think you've seen the results with the Indooroopilly cluster, how quickly everybody responded to that and I thank them for doing it."
More to come.
