Man's body found as search for fathers missing in NSW floods continue - 9News

Bob Chahine and Ghosn Ghosn are believed to have been riding in the back tray of a ute when it was swept off a flooded causeway at Prestons Creek in the southern tablelands on Monday.

The body of a man was found by police divers this afternoon.

The body has not been formally identified.

"The search is continuing for the second man," NSW Police said in a statement.

The submerged vehicle has been located by divers earlier in the search.

Two other men in the cabin of the ute managed to escape.

"Please bring our husbands home," Chahine's wife Remonda posted on Facebook earlier today.

Friend Melissa Lattouf also took to the social media platform to urge people to pray for the pair.

"Family and friends, please pray that God sends Bob and Ghosn home safely. The power of prayer is real," she wrote.

"Please pray with all your heart."

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese yesterday addressed the men's disappearance and urged those in flooded communities to stay safe.

"Can I just express my concern at the news that authorities and volunteers are searching for two men who've gone missing in Boorowa," Albanese said.

"This is a dangerous time. These floods are having a real impact.

"We've already seen a loss of life on the east coast, and I just hope that we receive some positive news … in the coming hours."

Flooding is seen in NSW's central west. Authorities are pleading with those in flood-affected areas not to drive in floodwaters.

It comes as NSW continues to battle its way through a floods crisis.

As of 12pm on Thursday, the State Emergency Service has issued 103 flood warnings.

Of these, 22 are at emergency level.

Record flood levels are expected at Forbes in the state's Central West region, with evacuation orders issued.

"Many of our river systems are in significant flood, particularly the Lachlan River, Murrumbidgee River, and the Murray River," Emergency Services Minister Steph Cooke said.

"In relation to Forbes, we are anticipating record floods to move through that community.

"There are evacuation orders in place impacting 500-600 people, and the evacuation order is to take effect by 4pm today."
