Teenagers allegedly stole car at gunpoint, led police on chase in Sydney - Sydney Morning Herald

Three teenagers have been arrested over an alleged crime spree in south-west Sydney involving a carjacking at gunpoint, a house invasion and a police pursuit.

Police said four people allegedly broke into a house and stole an Audi Q7 in West Hoxton at about 3am on Wednesday.

The Audi was later seen on security footage pulling up in a residential street in nearby Denham Court at about 4.40am. Police said four passengers – armed with a machete, a knife and a gun – got out of the car and walked up to a house, where a firearm was allegedly pointed at one of the occupants before the group fled.

Later, at about 5am, a woman was allegedly threatened by two men as she was reversing out of her driveway in a Volkswagen Golf. One of the men allegedly had a gun and the other a knife. She got out of the car and was uninjured as the men drove away in her Golf.

At about 8am, police officers on patrol spotted the Audi on Hoxton Park Road and began to pursue it after it failed to stop. A police sergeant was injured when the Audi allegedly reversed into a police car. The pursuit was abandoned for safety reasons.

A police helicopter and the dog unit helped locate the three teenagers aged 17, 14, and 13 at Chisholm Park . They were taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with “very serious offences”, police said.

The Audi was found abandoned at the park but the Golf is yet to be located. Police found what they believed to be the keys for the stolen Audi in Green Valley Creek, which runs through the park. Officers trawled through the water searching for more evidence, including weapons.

Police are appealing for anyone with information, or any available dashcam or mobile phone footage, related to the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
