Police search for group after man stabbed to death in 'family park' in Sydney - 9News

Police are searching for a group of up to 10 men after a man was stabbed to death in a park popular with families in south-western Sydney overnight.

Officers followed a trail of blood down Chapel Road and Myers Street in Roselands, where they believe three or four men ran from the scene.

Superintendent Sheridan Waldau said the incident occurred at a park with a playground where crime didn't usually occur.

"We have a blood trail in that area and there is an extensive crime scene along those two streets," Waldau said.

"We do not believe it is a random attack, we do believe these two groups were known to each other but under what circumstances we are not sure yet."

The stabbing occurred at Leonard Reserve shortly before 9.50pm yesterday during a brawl.

The 24-year-old was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but he died at the scene.

They believe eight to ten people were involved in the fight.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
