Year 9 student Benjamin was left with "life-altering" injuries after he was allegedly robbed while he was walking home and forced out of a moving car.
At least two students have come forward to report similar incidents since police appealed for witnesses in relation to the attack on the Glen Eira Secondary College student, who is still in hospital.
Victoria Police Inspector Scott Dwyer this morning told 3AW that two other victims from the same school, aged 14 and 16, have contacted police about being attacked or robbed in similar circumstances.
"We had further victims come forward," he said.
"There have been some silent victims, they have suffered like this other boy, maybe not to the level of injuries he has, but they have not reported to their parents or police.
"The investigation has broadened."
Dwyer said Benjamin, who remains in a serious but stable condition at the Royal Children's Hospital, had been left with "life-altering" injuries and "severe mental trauma".
Detectives are also probing whether the attack on Benjamin was linked to reports four teenagers were robbed by two people armed with machetes in nearby Kambrook Road about 3.25pm on Monday - shortly before he was allegedly abducted.
Students targeted across Melbourne's east
Monday's incident comes amid reports students from surrounding schools have also been targeted over the past month in Melbourne's east.
A Scotch College student was allegedly robbed after he was confronted by three men on August 7.
Last week, Xavier College students in Kew, about 12km from Glen Huntly, were also targeted.
The school issued a student safety reminder today to parents.
It encouraged students to not be distracted by their phones when walking, not to wear noise-cancelling headphones and to go directly home after school.
The reminder follows an incident where a number of students were approached by a group of unknown people on August 1.
The group allegedly stole property from the students.
A similar email has been sent to parents from Glen Eira College today.
Police have boosted patrols near schools around Glen Huntly since Monday's attack, which Dwyer described as "sickening".
"It's confronting and the issue is that we live in a safe city and when incidents like this are reported, it's shocking but there will be a response for it," he said.
"This is an absolute priority for us."
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Lisa Watson told media yesterday the investigation was "very active and ongoing".
"We know of the two incidents in Caulfield and Glen Huntly yesterday, further incidents we have information on," she said.
"Mobile phones were taken and I believe some other personal belongings."
