Here's what you need to know this morning.
School shuts
A staff member at a Western Sydney public school has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing it to close.
Staff and students at Werrington Public School have been told to stay home today while it is deep-cleaned.
NSW Health is conducting contact tracing to determine who the staff member came in close contact with.
Schools only began the hotly debated phase-in of face-to-face teaching on Monday when more than a third of students returned to classrooms.
If you want more coronavirus news, try these:
Restaurants reopen
Some of Sydney's restaurants and pubs will open their doors for lunch and dinner service today for the first time in almost two months.
However many venues, including Sydney's oldest pub, The Fortune of War, were still working to determine whether they would set the tables again.
Well-known chef Peter Gilmore ruled out reopening iconic restaurants Quay and Bennelong, saying the 10-patron limit was not financially viable.
Last night, the NSW Government announced it would allow pubs and clubs with attached restaurants and bistros to reopen from today, bringing them in line with cafes and restaurants.
Fire at car wreckers
Police are investigating the cause of a fire at a car wrecking yard in Sydney's south-west overnight.
Fire and Rescue NSW worked for more than two hours to put out the blaze at the Smeaton Grange business.
The fire destroyed about 50 vehicles being held for scrap metal.
Investigators will wait until the site is declared safe before examining the scene.
ICAC funding 'unlawful'
Lawyer Bret Walker SC has labelled the funding arrangements for the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) "unlawful" because the State Government has the power to withhold money for its investigations.
Last month, Mr Walker was appointed by the Premier to preside over the Ruby Princess special commission of inquiry, but prior to that he advised the Chief Commissioner of the ICAC.
In a report tabled in NSW Parliament, he found "there is a looming conflict between the essential independence of ICAC" by "the dependence that is created and wielded by senior public servant involvement in influencing the work programs of ICAC by means of restricting its funding".
In the current set-up, the ICAC has to ask for additional money — on top of its annual funding — from the Department of Premier and Cabinet to pay for its big investigations.
