'This is the quaddie we want': Victoria's fourth day in a row of no new coronavirus cases
Victoria's Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has praised the state's achievement of four days in a row of no new coronavirus cases.
"This is the quaddie we want for the last 4 days: 0,0,0,0," Professor Sutton tweeted.
This calendar plots every day that Victoria has recorded zero new cases:
The last time there were four consecutive days of no new cases was back in late February, back when the state had yet to record 10 cases in total and no local transmission had been confirmed.

Queensland police warn NSW drivers to pack their patience as border reopens
By Lucy Stone
Queensland borders will reopen to 3 million NSW residents today, prompting a warning from police for them to pack their patience.
The Sunshine State recorded no new cases of coronavirus on Monday, leaving just three active cases in hotel quarantine before the border reopened today to all of NSW except Sydney. Queensland borders remain closed to Victorians.

The border was due to open at 1am AEST (12am AEDT) this morning, three days after Queensland Labor Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was returned to power in what was seen as a reflection of her handling of the pandemic.
Police at the Gold Coast are preparing for an influx of NSW residents entering the Sunshine State before the Christmas holidays, with an updated border pass and strict travelling requirements needed for entry.
How many active COVID-19 cases are there in each state or territory?
There are currently a similar number of active coronavirus cases in NSW and Victoria, figures from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet show.
As of last night, there were 49 active cases in Victoria and 48 active cases in NSW. However, the two states cannot be directly compared as a sizeable proportion of the NSW cases are returned travellers in hotel quarantine, while all of Victoria's caseload was locally acquired.
The number of active cases in Victoria dropped below 50 yesterday for the first time since June 11. The state's lowest active caseload since the start of the first wave was 45 active cases back on April 29.
'Fire Fauci!': Trump tells rally he just might
US President Donald Trump has suggested that he will fire Dr Anthony Fauci after Tuesday's election, as his rift with the nation's top infectious disease expert widens while the country experiences its most alarming outbreak of the coronavirus since the spring.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Opa-locka, Florida, Trump expressed frustration that the surging cases of the virus that has killed more than 230,000 Americans so far this year remains prominent in the news, sparking chants of "Fire Fauci" from his supporters.
"Don't tell anybody but let me wait until a little bit after the election," Trump replied to thousands of supporters just after midnight Monday, adding he appreciated their "advice".
It's the most direct Trump has been in suggesting he was serious about trying to remove Fauci from his position. He has previously said that he was concerned about the political blowback of removing the popular and respected doctor before election day.
Dr Fauci participated in an online University of Melbourne panel discussion last Wednesday from his home in the US, in which he said scientists must never be afraid to tell politicians what they don't want to hear.
"One of the traps some scientists get into is, they like the idea of having impact at a national and global level and sometimes might hesitate to say something that is not popular to the politicians," Dr Fauci said Speaking from his US home said.

Public dental services resume in Melbourne
Public dental services have now resumed in Melbourne, a Victorian government spokeswoman has confirmed.
"Urgent dental care was still provided during the restrictions but now the Royal Dental Hospital and local community-based agencies in metropolitan and regional areas can provide all routine public dental care services for eligible Victorians," the spokeswoman said, adding that the resumption of all services brings the metropolitan Melbourne region back into line with regional Victoria.

Health alert issued for Jasmin1 Lebanese restaurant in Sydney's south-west
A staff member at Jasmin1 Lebanese Restaurant in Liverpool has tested positive for COVID-19, so the NSW Ministry of Health is urging anyone who has been at the venue to go out and get tested for coronavirus.
Anyone who worked at or dined at the 375 Macquarie Street restaurant on these dates is also being urged to self-isolate for the next 14 days:
- Monday, October 26 between 4pm and 9pm

France records record number of COVID-19 cases
France reported a record 52,518 new COVID-19 on Monday and the number of people hospitalised with the disease rose by more than 1000 for the fourth time in eight days, as the pandemic showed no signs of abating despite a new lockdown.
The timing of the latest daily record could be seen as particularly worrisome as Mondays have, until now, seen a dip in new cases reported due to fewer tests being carried out on a Sunday.
The cumulative number of cases now totals 1,466,433 in France, the fifth-highest total in the world behind the United States, India, Brazil and Russia.
As in other big European countries grappling with a resurgence of the disease, the French government ordered a four-week second national lockdown on Friday, as earlier curfew measures failed to have an impact.

Australians flee cities for refuge in regional retreats
By Shane Wright and Jennifer Duke
Australians are retreating to regional parts of the country and shunning the nation's two largest cities as they wait out the end of the coronavirus recession.
New data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics reveals Melburnians and Sydneysiders, in particular, were seeking refuge in regional retreats while others bunkered down even before the pandemic interrupted removalist vans across the continent.
There were 14,800 fewer interstate moves in the June quarter compared to the same period in 2019, but despite this slowdown, Melbourne faced its biggest quarterly departure of residents on record with a net loss of 8000 people in the quarter compared to a net gain of 150 people for the same time in 2019. During the first quarter of the year, there was a further drain of 2200 people out of the Victorian capital with the majority escaping the city to go elsewhere in the state.
Keep in mind that the June quarter is the three months between April and June, so this is data for the first six months of the year.
The trend of people moving into capital cities from their surrounding regional hinterlands has also slowed in other high-growth centres. In the first half of 2020 about 4000 people left NSW. About 14,000 left Sydney over the same six months, with 6000 exiting the harbour city in the second quarter.
