Sydney MP Alex Greenwich responds to Mark Latham's homophobic tweet - 9News

Alex Greenwich hopes Mark Latham is "doing OK" after the One Nation NSW leader sent out a graphic, homophobic tweet attacking the Sydney MP.

Greenwich fronted the media today, saying he had not heard and did not expect to hear from Latham, whose tweet has since been deleted. 9news.com.au has decided not to publish its content.

"I do not intend to engage in the content of Mr Latham's homophobic tweet," Greenwich said today.

"I do not expect an apology from him."

Greenwich then said he hoped Latham, who national One Nation leader Pauline Hanson previously claimed she had not been able to reach since the furore over the tweet erupted, was "OK".

"The comments he made are obviously not the comments of a well person," he said.

"I hope that Mr Latham is doing OK, I hope that he has friends and family members around him, and I hope that he is looking after himself."

Greenwich said he wouldn't seek to pursue any action against Latham in parliament, but he called on his fellow MPs and people around the state to support the LGBTQ+ community in NSW.

"I'm really lucky. I've got the support of a great husband, a great family," Greenwich said.

"I do feel for the LGBTQ+ people right across the state who don't have that support."

Greenwich thanked new NSW Premier Chris Minns for a call of support.

Minns himself gave a stronger criticism for Latham.

"I think they're vile and shameful comments and I think he's revealed himself to be a bigot," Minns said.

"I don't give her much credit at all for what I consider quite an empty statement based on her track record," he said.

He said One Nation would target minority groups "one by one", though he conceded Hanson was likely "disturbed and disgusted" by the content of Latham's tweet.
