NSW reports no new local coronavirus cases - NEWS.com.au

NSW has reported no new locally acquired coronavirus infections but seven in returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

The good news comes after just one case of locally transmitted COVID-19 was reported over the weekend. That case was a household contact of a confirmed case in Moss Vale and was included in Saturday’s numbers.

The original source of the Moss Vale cluster is still under investigation.

Health officials thanked those in that area who came forward to get tested in recent days.

“NSW Health would like to thank the recent cases in the Moss Vale area for coming forward and getting tested, which helps protect other community members,” Dr Jeremy McAnulty said in a video statement.

All residents in the Southern Highlands area where Moss Vale is located are urged to get tested if they feel any coronavirus symptoms.

“Especially in southwestern Sydney and northwestern Sydney, keep abreast of the health alerts,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian told reporters.

“It's really, really important for us at this time, given the time of year we are entering and given the borders are coming down between NSW and Victoria in just a couple of weeks.”

There were 63 COVID-19 patient being treated on Monday, with one in intensive care who did not require a ventilator.

On Sunday, health officials urged people in the area surrounding the Sydney suburb of Rouse Hill to get tested if they felt symptoms.

Sewage in that area contained traces of the virus, according to an analysis of a catchment carrying waste from around 120,000 people.

That sewerage system drains from parts of the nearby areas of Quakers Hill, Castle Hill, Annangrove, Kellyville, Box Hill, Kenthurst, Glenhaven, The Ponds, Rouse Hill, North Kellyville, Kellyville Ridge, Beaumont Hills, Stanhope Gardens, Baulkham Hills, Glenwood, Bella Vista, Parklea, Acacia Gardens and Norwest.

Coronavirus data is reported by 24-hour periods ending at 8pm the night before each announcement.

NSW health workers have carried out more than 3.1 million COVID-19 tests since the start of the pandemic, and the overwhelming majority of those have been negative.

There were 9499 tests in the latest reporting period compared with 13,721 in the previous one.

NSW’s total number of coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic stands at 4280.
