'Abhorrent behaviour': Police search for two men after Melbourne carjacking spree - 9News

The pair were spotted driving erratically and then followed by police on the Princes Highway in Springvale about 1.30pm yesterday.

Marsh said the carjackings were "quite overwhelming" for the community members involved.

They proceeded to hit a number of cars in the stolen vehicles.

"Community safety is our key priority here ... and this abhorrent behaviour and won't be tolerated," Marsh said.

"We will be pulling out all stops and working around the clock until those persons are located and brought before the court."

The first vehicle was carjacked at the intersection of Parkers Road and Nepean Highway in Parkdale, the second was stolen on Clayton Road in Clayton South, and the third was stolen on Boundary Road in Dingley.

The offenders carjacked a fourth vehicle on busy Hoddle Street in Richmond and travelled citybound.

He said he was aware implements were used in the carjackings but could not confirm the specifics of the weapon used.

"I am not aware of baseball bats being used but I am certainly aware of some sort of pole device of those terms," he said.

A police car was also rammed during the crime spree but no police officers were injured.

One man in his 50s was taken to hospital for observation.

"We are not going to stop until they have been located so my advice to them would be to make themselves known to police so they can be dealt with."

Marsh believes the offenders are males in their late teens or early 20s.
