'Shattered' family leads tributes
Constable Woods's wife Emily and his family have released a statement paying tribute to him.
"We are shattered to lose our dear Anthony. He was a devoted husband and loving son, brother, and uncle who was taken from this earth far too soon," the statement read.
"Anthony will be remembered as a funny, hard-working man who loved the West Coast Eagles and mucking around with his mates.
"He brought light and laughter to every situation, and his wicked sense of humour is irreplaceable.
"Our pain at this time is indescribable, and we take comfort in the outpouring of love from the community.
"We ask that you keep Anthony's memory alive by telling stories of all of your good times with him. Thank you."
'Sad time for blue family': Blanch
Commissioner Blanch said Constable Woods had only just finished his probation.
He described the young officer as an all-rounder and someone who loved to joke round with his friends and colleagues, many of whom Commissioner Blanch spent time with over the weekend at Belmont police station.
"We spoke about his cheeky grin and the pranks that he pulled. He had a bubbly personality, he was very personable, he was well loved by all," he said.
"Anthony was a brave and dedicated police officer. You did your duty mate. We will remember."
The commissioner said everyone was hurting over the loss of Constable Woods.
"I've personally received phone calls of support from around the world, from all the police commissioners around the nation, from the premier, police minister and thousands of people in the West Australian community," he said.
