Here's what you need to know this morning.
Historic house will be moved
The NSW Government has decided it will go ahead with a proposal to relocate the historic Willow Grove house at Parramatta to make way for the new Powerhouse Museum.
Arts Minister Don Harwin released a statement last night saying the decision to move the heritage property to a new site in North Parramatta came after community feedback.
The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union has placed a green ban on the demolition of the 19th century Italianate villa on Phillip Street which was halting progress on the redevelopment of the site.
The union says it still opposes the relocation, which is anticipated to cost around $10 million, and the ban will stay in place.
The original heritage portion of St George's Terrace which was also under threat will be retained and refurbished including the brick facade.
NT opens to Sydney
From today, Sydney residents can travel to the Northern Territory without having to quarantine for two weeks.
It's the first time the Northern Territory border has been opened since July, following the decision to withdraw Sydney's status as a COVID-19 hotspot.
The NT Government said the new COVID-19 cases in the Sydney region were not enough to sway its decision to reopen the border.
It has encouraged people to always carry a mask in case needed and to take individual responsibility seriously.
Forestry Corp facing $1m fines
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has commenced prosecutions against the Forestry Corporation of NSW for alleged illegal logging of koala habitat near Coffs Harbour.
The Forestry Corporation could face more than $1 million in fines for the alleged felling of trees in exclusion zones and protected areas in the Wild Cattle Creek State Forest.
"We're sending a strong message that laws created to protect the environment, and in particular vulnerable species like the koala, must be adhered to," EPA acting chief executive officer Jacqueleine Moore said.
The action follows a stop work order issued by the EPA to Forestry Corporation for the felling of two protected giant trees in the same forest.
More interest in quitting smoking
The coronavirus pandemic is thought to be behind a mammoth rise in the number of people looking for help to quit smoking.
The Cancer Institute of New South Wales has recorded a 73 per cent increase in visits to the iCanQuit website between March and June, compared with the same period last year.
It also noted a 16 per cent increase in calls to its quitting hotline.
Professor David Currow from the Cancer Institute said the health risks of being a smoker and contracting COVID-19 may have influenced the rise.
"The encouraging thing is people are trying to quit smoking. We know that most smokers want to quit and the fact that they have taken the opportunity of COVID-19 to take that next step is really positive."
DV crackdown
A police operation will target domestic violence in western NSW over the next two months after research showed an increase in crime in the region.
Operation Fairplay will begin on Sunday and finish up in early December.
It comes after police were given data showing an increase in domestic violence offences and non-domestic assaults over the months of October and November.
NSW Police Superintedent Steve Laksa said the warmer months and greater consumption of alcohol may be contributing factors.
Child approached in Eastwood
A man is expected to face court today after he allegedly tried to procure a child for sexual activity in Sydney's north-west.
Police said the man allegedly approached a 14-year-old boy in Eastwood last week and showed him messages of sex acts he wanted to do with the child.
After making inquiries, police yesterday searched a home in Telopea and seized a number of items including a mobile phone.
A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged and is due to face Burwood Local Court today.
