Several stores, restaurants and a gym class have been put on high alert after NSW recorded three locally acquired coronavirus cases – breaking an 11-day streak of no community transmission.
Health authorities have released seven venues where attendees should monitor closely for symptoms and ordered the participants of one pilates class into self-isolation for 14 days.
Anyone who attended an 8.15am pilates class at Fitness First in Carlingford on October 3 is considered a close contact of one of Wednesday’s new cases, which are not believed to be linked to each other.
Attendees must immediately get tested and self-isolate for 14 days from that date, even if their test comes back negative.
Anyone who attended the following venues at the noted times is considered a casual contact and should immediately isolate and be tested if they develop even the mildest symptoms of coronavirus.
- Friday, October 2: Kmart, Narellan Town Centre, Narellan – 6pm to 7pm
- Saturday, October 3: Fitness First, Carlingford (all attendees other than those in the pilates class notified above): 8 to 9:15am
- Sunday, October 4: Penrith Homemaker Centre, Penrith – 11am to 1pm
- Sunday, October 4: Guzman y Gomez, Penrith – 1:30pm to 2pm
- Sunday, October 4: Home Co, Penrith – 2pm to 2:30pm
- Monday, October 5: Westfield Parramatta – 9:30am to 11am
- Monday, October 5: Castle Towers Shopping Centre, Castle Hill – 12pm to 1pm
Up to 8pm on Tuesday, the state recorded three new cases, all from returned travellers in hotel quarantine – but after that recording period three additional, locally acquired cases were uncovered.
The new locally acquired cases are not believed to be linked to each other and are spread across Parramatta, Camden and Wollondilly – two women and a man, all aged in their 50s.
Contact tracers are racing to identify close contacts of the new mystery cases.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian said testing numbers across the state were too low, especially considering the new cases.
“Our suspicions the virus is always lurking in the community are founded – and we wouldn’t have said it if we didn’t mean it,” she said.
