The daughters of the man who died after he was attacked by a shark at a Broome beach on Sunday have told how they will always cherish their memories of the time they spent with him.
Charles Cernobori, 59, was bodyboarding at tourist hot spot Cable Beach when he was bitten on the arm and thigh by what authorities suspect was a tiger shark.
He could not be saved despite the brave efforts of a couple nearby on the beach who brought him to shore and called emergency services.
Mr Cernobori also leaves behind four grandchildren.
His daughters Kristy Wescombe (nee Cernbori), Cathryn Cernobori and Casey Cernobori remembered their father with a poem;
"Love leaves a memory no one can steal, but death leaves a memory no one can heal
"Goodbyes are not forever,
"Goodbyes are not the end,
"They simply mean I’ll miss you,
"Until we meet again."
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development research scientists are helping WA Police confirm the species of shark involved.
Storms and rain overnight in Broome hampered Fisheries land patrols, with the agency monitoring popular beaches as a public safety measure.
The beaches of Broome were reopened on Monday morning.
