Two young children and a woman have died in a shocking crash with paramedics describing the scene as ‘horrendous’.
A woman and two children have died in a tragic accident on the NSW Central Coast.
Five children were in the car when it was travelling down Wisemans Ferry Road, Central Mangrove, about 10pm Tuesday.
The vehicle approached Nurses Road before it veered off the road and crashed down an embankment.
The female driver and two children, aged two and eight, died at the scene.
Three other children were treated by paramedics before being flown to John Hunter Hospital where they remain in stable conditions.
Police are now investigating whether another motorist, who was travelling on Wisemans Ferry Road shortly after the crash, may have hit one of the children, who was on the road.
He has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
NSW Ambulance chief superintendent Brent Armitage described the scene as “horrendous”.
“This was an absolutely horrendous scene for everyone involved,” he said.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of these victims. It’s a tragic loss of life.
“There is no way to put into words what paramedics and first responders were faced with when arriving on scene.”
Wisemans Ferry Road, near Nurses Road, was closed with diversions in place.
