Live updates: Judge delivering verdict in Chris Dawson trial for alleged murder of Lynette Dawson - ABC News

The court has heard it would be "uncharactersitic" for Ms Dawson to have left the family's Bayview home.

Justice Harrison said the evidence was the mother-of-two "idolised her children and her husband" and had been in a good mood the day she vanished.

He said there was evidence Ms Dawson was "ebullient" after going to marriage counselling with her husband on January 8, 1982, and had "ambitions of resurrecting her relationship with Mr Dawson".

She didn't drive and her wardrobe was fully stocked, despite Ms Dawson being "fond" of clothes.

No make-up or personal items were missing from the Dawsons' home, Justice Harrison said.

"Even her contact lenses were found among her possessions in a blue container when delivered by Mr Dawson with her belongings."

The judge said Ms Dawson was not "burdened any physical or mental" issues that could explain her departure, and pointed to evidence given by her sister-in-law Lynette Hutcheon.

"She was very confident, decisive, a very, very, very confident young woman," she said.

"She knew what she wanted and, yeah, had no problem working out how to get it."
