Emergency crews are responding to reports that four people have been shot at Bogie, south-west of Bowen in north Queensland.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) said a man in critical condition has been taken to Mackay Base Hospital by helicopter with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act in an area south-east of Collinsville bound by Sutherland Road, Normanby Road, Mount Compton Road and Starvation Creek.
The QAS said eight crews had been sent to the incident coming from Mackay, Townsville and Rockhampton.
Police confirmed they were responding to reports of a shooting of multiple people on a rural property near Collinsville.
Police said one male was located "some distance" from the property and is being treated for a gunshot wound.
They have requested members of the public and aircraft not attend the location while they conduct an "emergency operation".
QAS said two helicopters were sent to the scene.
