A quick recap of the Matildas win
By Roy Ward
For those who were under a rock or doing something that kept them from a television - here is a recap.
The Matildas have made it to their first World Cup semi-final after winning a 20-shot penalty shootout over France.
The teams were tied 0-0 after 120 minutes which led to the shootout.
Australia had two chances to win the shootout but keeper Mackenzie Arnold, who also saved multiple French penalties, and defender Claire Hunt, both couldn’t convert their shots.
In the end, substitute Cortnee Vine held her nerve and smashed home her penalty to etch her name into history.
The Matildas will play the winner of Colombia v England in a semi-final in Sydney on Wednesday night.
