Key points:

- She was found dead in her Mernda home on Monday morning
- The 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
Celeste Manno was found dead in a Mernda home in the early hours of Monday morning.
A friend who wished to remain anonymous described Ms Manno as a "beautiful, caring and angelic soul".
"I have known her since I was a teenager," she said in a statement.
"She graced everyone with her radiant presence and she could light up a room with just a smile."
She said the loss of her friend would "leave a big hole in so many people's hearts".
"We are all going to miss her dearly," she said.
"No family should ever have to go through grieving for their family member in this way."
Victoria Police said a 35-year-old Roxburgh Park man remained in hospital under police guard.
Police said on Monday that it was believed the pair were known to each other.
Officers also examined a car that was parked out the front of the Mernda Police Station. The car was later towed away.
Ms Manno was in a relationship with another man, Chris Ridsdale.
His sister, Sarah Ridsdale, said her brother had been left devastated by his girlfriend's death.
"I sit here watching my younger brother shake with tears," she said.
"I can't do anything."
Ms Ridsdale has questioned why Celeste was killed.
"Why? Just why?," she said.
"She was supposed to be celebrating her birthday with Chris this week.
"Her mother and brothers are beside themselves with grief."
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
