ACT authorities are investigating a possible COVID-19 breach after receiving reports that a group of people from Sydney's Cumberland local government area visited Parliament House.
ACT Health said it was made aware of the potential breach of travel restrictions by the COVID-19 Taskforce at Parliament House and the matter had been referred to ACT Policing.
Cumberland LGA is the only remaining Sydney hotspot whose residents are banned from entering the ACT.
A spokesperson from the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS), which is in charge of the operation of Parliament House, said they were aware a group "potentially from a designated COVID-19 affected area of NSW visited the ACT yesterday, against ACT public health directions, and including a visit to Parliament House".
"DPS has been in contact with ACT Health and provided relevant information to authorities as well as undertaking cleaning in line with COVID-safe plans for the building," the spokesperson said.
ACT Policing confirmed they were aware of the possible breach and confirmed the group's visit to Parliament House was not related to the peaceful protest held yesterday on Australia Day.
More to come.
