Live Updates
Victoria has recorded its deadliest day since the pandemic began, losing another 25 people to coronavirus.
The state’s total death toll now sits at 334, with most of Victoria’s deaths coming from its aged care sector.
The Department of Health and Human Services reported the numbers this morning.
Another 282 Victorians also tested positive to coronavirus, a slight increase from Sunday’s 279 cases.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian will give an update on NSW's latest coronavirus figures and her statement on the Ruby Princess inquiry today at 11am.
She will be joined by Minister for Health Brad Hazzard, Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant and Police Commissioner Mick Fuller.
We'll be covering it live here.
A day-old baby boy who was flown from Lismore to a Brisbane hospital for lifesaving treatment has been separated from his mother because she can't cross the state border due to coronavirus restrictions.
“All I want are both my boys with me,” the heartbroken mother Chantelle Northfield told 7 News. “But one is going to be in Brisbane where we can’t see him.
"I just want him to know how much I love him."
Her newborn son Harvey was held by his mother for a fleeting moment, but due to medical complications had to be rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hotel.
"I obviously wanted to go with him, but obviously due to the coronavirus restrictions, we were not able," Chantelle said.
She and her partner Glen were told there was no room in the helicopter, but that they could come by car.

But after receiving the necessary permissions from NSW Health and Queensland Police, the hospital told them they were "too high-risk" and would have to quarantine for 14 days.
She is now relying on video calls to see her newborn.
“FaceTime’s just not the same because I can’t even lay a finger on him,” Chantelle said. “And just say that I love him.
“He’s just hooked up to tubes, he’s sleeping, he doesn’t get to hear my heartbeat and feel the comfort of that."
The baby is improving quickly, with doctors saying he'll be able to go home to Lismore by Wednesday.
The NSW government will make a statement on the findings of the Ruby Princess inquiry later today.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian released the findings of the inquiry to the public on Friday, saying detailed comments would follow this week.
The inquiry looked into why all 2700 Ruby Princess passengers were allowed to disembark from the ship on March 19, despite 120 of them showing flu-like symptoms by the time the boat arrived in Sydney.
The ship has since been linked to more than 900 coronavirus infections across the globe and 22 Australian deaths
The inquiry uncovered a number of "serious errors", with most of the criticism falling on NSW Health.
A fresh wave of health alerts have been issued for restaurants across Sydney after customers who visited them since tested positive for COVID-19.
People who attended these venues during the following dates and times have been deemed "casual contacts" and are advised to monitor symptoms and get tested and isolate if they occur:
Den Sushi Rose Bay on Saturday 8 August between 7:15pm and 8:45pm
Café Perons Double Bay on Saturday 8 August between 1pm and 2pm.
Horderns Restaurant at Milton Park Country House Hotel and Spa, Bowral on Sunday 2 August between 7:45pm and 9:15pm.
Crust Pizza, Concord on Thursday 6 August between 4pm and 8pm or Friday 7 August between 5pm and 9pm.
NSW recorded five cases on Sunday, marking its lowest rate of new infections in over a month.
This is the third-straight day the state has recorded under 10 new cases of the deadly disease.
That brings NSW’s total number of cases to 3761.
A man also passed away last night from COVID-19, taking the state’s death toll to 54.
“NSW Health sadly reports the death of a man in his 80s, who had COVID-19,” NSW Health’s Jeremy McAnulty said on Sunday.
“We pass our condolences to his family and friends.”
A top Sydney selective school has closed and HSC trial exams have been delayed after a student tested positive for COVID-19.
Sydney Girls High School at Moore Park announced it would close today following news of the infection.
In a statement, the school said a scheduled HSC trial examination "will be rescheduled and students notified".
"The Department has been advised by NSW Health this morning that a student has tested positive for COVID-19.
"The school will be nonoperational tomorrow for the onsite attendance of staff and students to allow time for the school to complete contact tracing and have the school cleaned.
"The trial HSC examination planned for tomorrow will not take place."
