NSW records no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases for the second day running - ABC Local

NSW has reported no new locally acquired coronavirus infections for the second day running.

Five cases were reported in overseas travellers in hotel quarantine, but the state has kept up its clean slate for transmissions in the community.

There were 12,890 tests done in the 24 hours to 8:00pm last night.

It is a slight drop from 13,686 in the previous reporting period.

Health authorities are currently treating 72 people for COVID-19.

None are in intensive care.

NSW Health's Stephen Corbett reiterated the need for people to get tested.

"NSW Health continues to appeal to the community to come forward for testing right away if anyone has even the mildest of symptoms like a runny nose or scratch throat, cough, fever or other symptoms that could be COVID-19," he said.

Health authorities said it was particularly important for people in western, south-western and south-eastern Sydney, which were the last areas to see locally transmitted cases recently.

There have been cases earlier this week linked to the clusters from the Liverpool private health clinic and also the Great Beginnings Childcare Centre in Oran Park.

Today's result follows the easing of restrictions on group gatherings.

Restaurants can now take bookings for up to 30 people, an increase from 10.

Groups of 30 people are now able to gather outside, up from the previous limit of 20.
