It's... a little confusing
these two new local cases, are they the ones from the holiday inn? the food staff member and the ex-quarantiner?i fear i may have missed something !!!
-out of the loop
Hey there out of the loop, you're not the only one confuzzled by this.
So, yesterday afternoon, the Victorian Department of Health announced two more cases had been recorded, both of them linked to the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport.
That was a quarantine worker and a resident who left the hotel on February 7.
Usually, the new cases aren't reported until 9am the following day, but the department announced these two new cases early.
Now, about this time yesterday, I was reporting something very, very similar.
Because yesterday's stats included two new cases that we'd learned about on Tuesday. To make matters even more confusing, they were also a quarantine worker and a resident who left the hotel on Sunday, February 7.
So it's got a bit of a Groundhog Day vibe to it.
But what you need to do know is that there are now eight cases in the cluster. That includes:
- Three workers
- Two residents who left the hotel on February 7
- A family of three who acquired the virus overseas and stayed at the hotel — they're known as the index cases
