A third woman has alleged she was sexually assaulted by the same former federal government advisor accused of raping former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins.
The Australian newspaper today reported that a third woman alleges she was assaulted after a night of drinking with the then-political staffer while volunteering for the Coalition's 2016 election campaign.
She spoke to the newspaper on the condition of anonymity but has reportedly provided a statutory declaration to support her claims.
Ms Higgins revealed her story last week, alleging she had been raped by a fellow staffer in the office of then-defence industry minister Linda Reynolds in March 2019.
The man was sacked in the days after the incident, and Ms Higgins said she felt her complaint against him had jeopardised her career in politics.
The Weekend Australian earlier reported that a second woman, a former Liberal staffer who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged she had been sexually assaulted by the former government staffer.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he was "upset" by those reports.
Ms Higgins' rape allegations have rocked the nation's capital and raised questions about whether the incident was covered up.
Mr Morrison has been asked repeatedly about what his office knew of Ms Higgins's complaint, and whether his staff failed to pass on details they learned of the alleged rape.
The Prime Minister has apologised for the way the matter was handled and said he has asked his staff what they knew about the incident.
There are now four reviews taking place that all have the stated aim of improving the workplace culture within Parliament House.
