New QR systems to help contact tracers in Vic
Back in Victoria, contact tracers will have direct access to private QR code systems via new software launched by the state government.
Many business operators have chosen not to use the government's free QR code service, opting for private electronic record-keeping instead which doesn't seamlessly connect with the contact tracing system.
The new software comes into force from next month and the requirement to share information will only be activated in the event of a positive case of coronavirus being detected at a specific location.
Government Services Minister Danny Pearson said the software meant contact tracers would instantly have access to the information they needed.
"This will make life simpler for local businesses and help our contact tracers deal with outbreaks even faster. This is about making sure that we stay one step ahead of the virus and that we use private QR codes to link in the with government's contact tracing system."
