Last April, Australia had been living with coronavirus restrictions for a month.
And like most annual traditions, how we marked Anzac Day had to change — significantly. The "Light up the Dawn" campaign was born and people across Australia took to their driveways to pay their respects as the rest of their daily lives ground to a halt.
Here in 2021, the coronavirus pandemic hasn't disappeared but the nation is mostly living under the new normal.
This Sunday, April 25, this is how you can commemorate the men and woman who have served Australia.
Is Anzac Day in our driveways on again?
In short, yes.
In keeping with our new normal, the RSL is encouraging people to commemorate Anzac Day however works best for them.
So if you don't feel safe at a public event, or can't make it to a local service, you'll be able to mark the event from home again this year.

But unlike in 2020, most Australians are allowed back at services and marches in 2021.
The exception, of course, is in Western Australia where residents in the Perth and Peel regions will be under a three-day lockdown from Saturday morning.
With Anzac Day services in those regions cancelled, Premier Mark McGowan has encouraged people to take to their driveways at dawn instead.
While the rules differ slightly between the other states and territories, dawn services and marches will be happening almost as normal across the rest of Australia. All the rules we've come to expect (social distancing, washing your hands, staying away if you're unwell) will be in effect.
The biggest changes will be at marches and services in capital cities, with most putting a limit on numbers in some way.
If you want to find a local event (and what rules might apply), you can head to the RSL Australia website.
How do I hold the service at home?
Just like last year, if you want to participate from home, 6:00am is the time to take part.
This year, the RSL has put together a short audio Anzac Day service that you can download or stream once you're standing on your driveway, your verandah or in your living room.
The audio has everything you'll need for your own private service — the ode, the Last Post, a minute's silence and the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand.
You can take a candle with you while you listen to the service, or use whatever musical talents you've got to produce your own version of the Last Post.
What if I miss the dawn service in my driveway?
No dramas.
The ABC will broadcast the Sydney Dawn Service, Canberra Dawn Service and National Ceremony and Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance Service from 4:30am AEST on ABC TV and ABC NEWS channels, on iview, and streamed live on ABC Australia Facebook and YouTube.
You can also catch broadcasts of capital city marches during the day on ABC TV, live on ABC capital city Facebook accounts and on the ABC's capital city local radio websites.
For a full list of broadcast times, or to find your local ABC radio station or Facebook page, head over to this story.
You can also jump in the kitchen and whip up some Anzac Day cookies (here's how to make ones so good you'll impress a CWA baking judge).
Is anything else coming back this year?
Anzac Day sporting fixtures will make a grand return after being one of the many things cancelled at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.
