Businesswoman Lucy Turnbull has described the way former Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate was treated by Prime Minister Scott Morrison and others was  "disgraceful" and an example of "misogyny".

In 2018, Ms Holgate gifted four Cartier watches — worth around $20,000 in total — to executives as a reward for securing a lucrative contract for Australia Post.

Speaking at a parliamentary inquiry yesterday, Ms Holgate said she was humiliated and bullied by Mr Morrison for her decision, then unlawfully stood down by chairman Lucio Di Bartolomeo.

Ms Turnbull, who heads the Greater Sydney Commission, said Ms Holgate should be reinstated, and that losing a "good CEO like her is just wrong".

"She was treated disgracefully and I can't help thinking there was a bit a gender bias in the way she was treated," she said.

"I'd like anyone else to argue the contrary and point to a man who's been treated like that."

Liverpool Hospital funding crisis

The NSW government is spending $740 million redeveloping Liverpool Hospital.

Tony Felgate couldn't feel the left side of his body when he arrived at Liverpool Hospital one Friday late last year.

A doctor ordered an MRI, but a lack of staff meant the 80-year-old had to wait until Monday.

While he recovered quickly, the experience gave him insight into an issue many health professionals have been screaming about for years: the hospital — one of Sydney’s biggest — is under-resourced.

Dr Miriam Levy, chair of the hospital's Medical Staff Council, which represents its senior clinicians, said underfunding meant the hospital didn't have enough doctors, teams were spread too thin, and waiting times were longer.

Strong winds bring NSW fire risk

The NSWRFS is warning landowners to avoid burn-offs as strong winds bring an elevated fire risk to parts of NSW.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) says the windy conditions are the result of a cold front moving across the state.

RFS spokeswoman Angela Burford said landowners should monitor any recent burns, assess weather conditions and seriously consider postponing any planned burning.

"We're likely to see high winds, quite strong and gusty," she said.

"Even though we've seen much cooler conditions, those winds can make fire erratic and more difficult to control."

Wollongong urged to 'do better' by those with disabilities

Wollongong Professor Justin Yerbury said his recent visit to Wollongong Town Hall was "stressful", and has urged council to "do better" in meeting the needs of people with disabilities.

Dr Yerbury said he wasn't provided with disabled parking or seating, his foot got stuck in a lift door, and he wasn't able to use the disabled toilet during Ben Elton's show at the venue on Friday night.

He says despite phoning ahead to discuss his needs, staff on the night told him there was nothing they could do to address his concerns.

"It's just exhausting to have to fight for basic access so I can attend an event," he said.

"It takes a lot of effort to get out, several hours of preparation, roster changes and planning even before we get there.

"It would be great if Wollonging City Council/ Illawarra Performing Arts Centre could make the effort to make it more accessible for everyone. Please do better."

Wollongong Council has been contacted for comment.

More charges over luxury vehicle theft

A seventh man has been charged over his alleged role in a criminal syndicate that has been stealing luxury and high-performance vehicles across Sydney.

Six men – aged 52, 29, 35, 30, 19, 21 – have already been charged over their alleged involvement in various syndicates.

The most recent arrest, a 22-year-old man, was involved in breaking and entering at properties in West Hoxton and Picton in December and January.

He allegedly stole three motorcycles and a motor vehicle.
