The number of charges against a 24-year-old man accused of sexual violence against women has more than tripled after 14 further alleged victims came forward to police.
Anthony Stevo Glumac, 24, is due to face court on Wednesday on a total of 47 charges in relation to 19 women and girls, aged between 14 and 28.
Detectives laid 32 of those charges on Monday including 16 counts of sexual intercourse without consent, five counts of common assault and the aggravated sexual assault of a victim aged under 16.
“Police will allege in court the additional offences relate to a further 11 women – aged between 18 and 28 – and three girls – aged 14, 16 and 17 – for offences that occurred in Darlinghurst, Wollongong and across south-west Sydney, between January 2014 and December 2020,” NSW Police said in a statement on Wednesday.
Detectives from the state’s sex crimes squad established Strike Force Honda in September 2020 after a 24-year-old woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by Mr Glumac.
During the investigation, officers received information relating to the alleged sexual assault of two more women, aged 21 and 19, and two girls, aged 15 and 16, between August 2013 and March 2020.
Mr Glumac, a labourer, was arrested at a unit in Campbelltown in December last year and charged with 15 sexual violence-related offences in relation to those five alleged victims.
Police say the women, who did not know each other, were allegedly attacked in Tahmoor, Picton, Darlinghurst and Campbelltown.
“The allegations are the offender has met these women through a number of different means, both through his employment, at parties and clubs, as well as mutual friends and the like,” Detective Chief Inspector Michael Haddow said at the time.
“Our absolute concern is that there may be other victims out there and we would encourage them to come forward.”
Strike Force Honda inquiries continue.
