Coronavirus: Queensland records zero new cases - NEWS.com.au

Queensland has recorded its second day of zero new coronavirus cases.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Sunday confirmed 3299 tests had been conducted in the past 24 hours.

The state has only nine active cases, two which were last recorded on Friday.

“This is absolutely great news,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Because Queenslanders are doing the right thing we are able to have life in a semi-normal fashion.

“They key is social distancing and keeping up that good hand hygiene. Everyone has a social responsibility.”

Speaking at Burleigh Heads, Ms Palaszczuk also announced Australian surf icon Wayne “Rabbit” Bartholomew as the Labor candidate for Burleigh Heads at the October 31 state election.

Mr Bartholomew played a key role in making the Gold Coast a world surfing reserve, which gave the coastal area legal protection against habitat destruction.

“I challenge anyone to love the Gold Coast as much as I do,” Mr Bartholomew said.
