Coronavirus Australia live news: Authorities urge vigilance as COVID-19 fragments found in sewage at three Queensland sites - ABC News

COVID-19 fragments detected on the Gold Coast and in North Queensland

Anyone experiencing Covid-19 symptoms is again being urged to get tested.

Yesterday Queensland Health revealed fragments of the virus had been detected in sewage at three more sites around the state.

The samples came from wastewater treatment plants at Merrimac on the Gold Coast, Cairns North and Cannonvale in the Airlie Beach area.

Health authorities say while it doesn't mean there are new coronavirus cases in those communities .. the detections are being treated seriously and anyone with symptoms in those areas should get tested.

Mandated mask-wearing at most indoor establishments in Greater Brisbane is due to be eased on Friday.
