Two children are missing from Sydney’s east and are believed to be in a car with their father, with police holding extreme concerns for their safety.
The children, Bowie and Basten Dowlut, aged four and ten, were at home in Darling Point when their father put them and their mother into the family car about 2.30am on Thursday.
“Despite strong protestations from the children’s mother”, their father said he was intending to drive from their Carthona Avenue home to Melbourne, according to police.
However, he forced their mother out of the car in Alexandria about 3am, when she notified police.
Their father, Dennis Dowlut, 47, is described as being of Mauritian background with an olive complexion, about 180cm tall, of slim build, and balding. He was last seen wearing black pants, a white t-shirt, khaki puffer jacket, and a red beanie.
Bowie is described as having an olive complexion, long brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing white pyjamas with pink unicorn symbols.
Basten is described as having an olive complexion, short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing white pyjama pants, a white t-shirt, and black puffer jacket.
They were last seen in a white 2014 SsangYong Actyon SUV, with NSW registration DLF-43A.
NSW Police is asking the public to report any sightings of the father or children, but not to approach the man.
