Here's what you need to know this morning.
Deputy Premier asks MP to resign
Deputy Premier John Barilaro says he asked Nationals MP Michael Johnsen to resign in the face of accusations he assaulted a female sex worker last year.
Yesterday, Labor MP Trish Doyle used parliamentary privilege to raise the allegations of misconduct in the Blue Mountains but did not name Mr Johnsen.
He later identified himself and strongly denied the claims.
Mr Barilaro said in light of the police investigation into the matter he sought Mr Johnsen's resignation from his role as Parliamentary Secretary yesterday.
Mr Johnsen also agreed to no longer sit in Nationals Party Room nor Joint Party Room while the investigation is underway.
Police investigate flood death
An investigation is underway into the death of a man who became trapped in his car after driving into floodwaters in Sydney's north-west.
The 25-year-old Pakistani national rang triple-0 himself and was on the phone for nearly 45 minutes before the operator lost contact with him.
He was driving a brand new hire car and was on his way to the first day of a new job, when the accident at Glenorie occurred.
Police detective inspector Chris Laird said police divers found the car six metres underwater with the man's body still inside, many hours later.
He said there was evidence the man tried to get out but was not able to and the investigation would examine whether the car's electrics totally failed, preventing his escape.
NSW floods latest
Some residents have been given the all clear to return home as floodwaters recede, but thousands are still waiting to survey the damage.
At about midnight the NSW SES lifted evacuation orders around Kempsey, Taree and the Camden Haven district on the Mid-North Coast.
However, earlier in the evening a new flood evacuation order was issued for low-lying areas of Ulmarra, on the bank of the Clarence River, near Grafton.
Major flooding is still occurring on the Mehi River at Moree, the Gwydir River at Yarraman, the Hawkesbury River at North Richmond and Windsor and the Wollombi Brook at Bulga.
Kathleen Folbigg pardon still legally possible
Two members of a legal team who wrote a petition for the pardon of Kathleen Folbigg, say the NSW Governor is still considering the pardon.
Yesterday Folbigg lost an appeal requesting that the findings of the Commissioner of the 2019 inquiry be overturned.
But barrister Dr Robert Cavanagh and solicitor Rhanee Rego who signed the petition, said in a statement the decision of the Court of Appeal "does not end the legal avenues available to Ms Folbigg".
"The petition deals with matters not considered by the NSW Court of Appeal" the statement said.
Stray cows found safe
It was a surprisingly quick backyard bovine rescue as Mondrook resident Peter Bowie and some helping hands pulled up with a horse float to retrieve his cow from the back of a Taree home.
The cow is one of nearly 200 that were swept away in surging floodwaters at the weekend, with many popping up in far flung places on the Mid-North Coast.
"The humour of having it there is probably waning with the loss of their garden," Mr Bowie said.
But Harmony Burton said Mr Bowie's cow had been a welcome guest at the household.
"We call it Bruiser ... he likes to head butt," she said.
