Three people, including a young child, have been killed in a single-vehicle crash on the NSW South Coast early on Saturday morning.

Police and emergency services were called to Lake Tabourie along the Princes Highway around 4.30am to respond to reports a car had travelled off the road.

The Honda Accord was travelling north along the Princes Highway, near Ulladulla, when it left the road and hit a tree.

Three occupants of the car were killed at the scene, including the female driver, a man and a young child.

A fourth male occupant, aged in his 40s, was taken by ambulance to Milton helipad where he was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition.

Police are yet to formally identify the victims.

Only one lane of the Princes Highway is open at Lake Tabourie and traffic control is in place on the highway near Weymouth Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and take care while travelling through the area.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
