A pit bull terrier has been reunited with her owner after allegedly being stolen from outside World Square shopping centre in Sydney’s CBD.
Baxter, a four-year-old female pit bull terrier, was tied up by her owner outside a shop at the intersection of George and Liverpool streets about 8.20pm on Friday, May 7.
Police say when the owner returned, his dog was missing.
Officers released a photograph of Baxter, with brown colouring and a white chest, along with images of a man and a woman they were told had been seen heading south on George Street with the pet.
A 38-year-old man arrived at Day Street police station in the city about 9.20pm on Monday with Baxter. He was arrested and has been charged with stealing a dog.
The man was refused police bail and is due to face Central Local Court on Tuesday.
If proven, the charge of stealing a dog in NSW carries a penalty of up to one year in prison.
