What scrapped AFL game means for SuperCoach - Herald Sun

The decision to scrap Saturday night’s Hawthorn v Gold Coast game will impact thousands of KFC SuperCoach players. Special rules will help ease the pain.

KFC SuperCoach will go ahead this weekend with modified rules if there are changes to the AFL fixture for Round 11.

The AFL announced on Wednesday that the Hawthorn v Gold Coast match scheduled for TIO Stadium in Darwin on Saturday night won’t go ahead due to Victoria’s new COVID-19 crisis.

Late on Wednesday it was still possible the match would be played at another venue — if that happens the round will proceed as usual in KFC SuperCoach.

Another option is for the match to be postponed and the Hawks and Suns will have a bye this weekend.

If that happens, KFC SuperCoach will go to best 18 scoring for Round 11.

During a hectic 2020 season the same rule was adopted any time there were fewer than nine games played in a round — as per the bye rounds.

Under Best 18 rules only a team’s highest 18 scores count towards your tally for the round. These scores must come from active players — bench scores don’t count unless they are emergencies covering for a zero on the field.

There are no extra trades at this stage.

Hawthorn and Gold Coast were scheduled to have a bye in Round 12.

A decision to cancel the game would mean impact popular KFC SuperCoach players including Jarman Impey, Tom Mitchell and Jacob Koschitzke.

In that event their prices would not change and all non-playing players could be used for loopholes and traded and substituted until the final lockout of the round at 4.40pm AEST on Sunday when the ball is bounced for Port Adelaide v Fremantle.

KFC SuperCoach will remain agile with possible further fixture changes and we will keep everyone informed with any new developments.
